How to Get an Illinois Driver's License (If you already licensed in another state) for Immigrants

                You may drive on your valid out-of-state driver's license for 90 days.To get an Illinois Driver's License or State ID Card, you must go to a full service branch of the Secretary of State(http://www.ilsos.gov/facilityfinder/facility).
                    If you are trading your old state's Driver's License for an Illinois Driver's License, you will need pass the appropriate exams (vision screening, written and/or driving).. You must get 27 of the 35 questions right to pass the written test.you need to pay the appropriate fee ( $30).Illinois Secretary of State does not accept credit or debit cards as payment.You will need to pay either in cash or check.

Documents you need to take with you
1.Old Driver's License
2. Passport with valid visa (your visa should be valid for another six months)
3. Social Security card
4. Two documents (current utility bill , lease agreement & any official mail you can use) must be provided that show the applicant’s name and current address.

              For drivers between 21 and 80 the driver's license is valid for four years. It expires on their birthday.I recommend to go to Libertyville state secretary office if you are in chicago area. They are friendly in our experience.

Independence Day is the national day of the United States.
                 In 1775, people in New England began fighting the British for their independence. On July 2, 1776, the Congress secretly voted for independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was first published two days later on July 4, 1776. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was on July 8, 1776. Delegates began to sign the Declaration of Independence on August 2, 1776. In 1870, Independence Day was made an unpaid holiday for federal employees. In 1941, it became a paid holiday for them.
                 The first description of how Independence Day would be celebrated was in a letter from John Adams to his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776. He described "pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations" throughout the United States. However, the term "Independence Day" was not used until 1791.
                 Interestingly, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both signers of the Declaration of Independence and presidents of the United States, died on July 4, 1826 - exactly 50 years after the adoption of the declaration. It is also important to note that Native Americans lived in the country and each tribe had its own nation and government prior to the European settlers.
